We’ve gotten to the point in the offseason where everything has gone silent and the most exciting thing for fans to talk about is what the new Adidas third jerseys will look like. Islanders fans have been anxiously awaiting the unveiling of their brand new third jerseys since it was reported that they would be one of the teams getting one. So far, the Islanders have not said anything about what it could look like, and haven’t even given us a date in which it will be unveiled. Although there has been no comment from the Islanders, there have been reports that indicate what the jersey could potentially look like.
Surprising to some, many fans have been calling for a Fisherman style third jersey, which would bring back the once hated jerseys that fans were previously trying to get burned to the ground. Although some concepts have looked cool, there have been multiple reports saying that the jersey will not be related to the fisherman style in any way, so there’s that. With that being said, we still ask the question: what will it look like?
According to Icethetics, a top source for NHL jersey information, the Islanders third jersey will be an orange jersey with blue stripes. It will have the “NY” logo that was featured in different variations on both the Stadium Series jersey in 2014, and the black alternate jersey that was worn when the team moved to Brooklyn.
The Islanders have had some brutally ugly third jerseys in previous years, so it’s not a surprise that they’re trying to play it safe with these. If I had to guess, I’d say that the jersey is very similar to the Stadium Series jersey, with Orange as the primary color instead of blue. The season starts in September, so we’ll find out soon enough.
