Goodbyes are hard. But they are hard for a reason. When you do something for so long and love it so much, bidding farewell is an immensely difficult task. And that is where I stand today.
After 42 episodes, I must say goodbye to something that has shaped me as a person: Destination Hockey. This show has done so much for me that it can barely be put into words. However, I will try.
Two years ago, I did not know what I wanted to do. I would lay in my bed at night, scared of the future, not knowing what was to come. I liked math, I liked business and I liked writing. But that does not lead to a career.
My future started to take shape with this show. It was a pure coincidence. At an award ceremony, I walked up to someone and asked a question about audio equipment. A perfect wave ensued, and a week later I was interviewing to have my own show.
That conversation, that interaction, saved my life. Because of a few words, my fate was set, and I began to pursue what I love. Life is a delicate thing. In one moment, everything can change. That happened to me. And I am thankful.
Throughout the last two years, I developed confidence that I never thought I had. Talking for an hour straight is hard, but I was able to grow as a speaker, journalist, and most importantly, a person.
I have developed so many connections. I have talked to over 50 of the brightest minds in the hockey world, all through networking and just being kind. This industry is special. People want to help each other, and so many people have helped me get to where I am today. Thank you to everyone who has come on the show.
And finally, I must thank my backbone. To all our listeners, I would not be here without you. Your support has allowed me to pursue my dreams, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
This show has been a roller coaster, but the ride is coming to an end. From the destination for all things hockey, thank you for everything.
