The day has finally come! The Islanders 2019-20 season begins tonight as they will host the Washington Capitals at the Nassau Coliseum.
The Islanders had a solid preseason, but let’s be real here, preseason doesn’t matter.  In fact, two seasons ago, the Islanders went undefeated in the preseason and ended up missing the playoffs.

What we did get out of preseason though is that Noah Dobson is NHL ready.  Dobson had himself a very good training camp which earned him a spot on the opening night roster.

Wednesday night, the Capitals took on the defending Stanley Cup champions, St. Louis Blues, and won in come from behind fashion, in overtime 3-2.
Keys of the Game
The Islanders need to come out hard and flying out of the gates.  They need to set a tone, not only for the game, but for the season.
They need to be all over the Capitals, giving their stars no room to be an offensive threat.  Those little things make a huge difference in games, and if the Isles do just that, they will win the game.  Oh, and scoring would help too.
