Dear Alyse Zwick and Angelica Salem,
Thank You. After the rumors came out that the Islanders had moved on from the both of you, fans came to your defense. It says something about the type of people that you both were to have such an outcry from fans in support of both of you.
While we the fans don’t know why the team moved on, it still hurts. For starters, you both weren’t just employees of the team. You didn’t do your job and then leave. You were both fans. You bleed orange and blue. You celebrated goals, hated loses and overall cared about this fan base.
We’ve been through a lot: a move to Brooklyn, obstructed seats, our star-player leaving. But watching the both of you care for this team and work so hard so that us the fans could forget about all of the pain was a pleasure. You represented us with pride and respect. You carried your head high even when the team wasn’t good.
From singing the national anthem to hosting games, both of you could make whatever area in whatever corner of the Earth home. When we heard your voices boom across the arena, we knew that this was our home regardless of the zip code.
And it wasn’t only home games that you showed up.  In the playoffs, you both made any away game feel like home at the Offside Tavern. We knew that this wasn’t just a job for the both of you, it was a passion. A passion that we all shared, the New York Islanders.  To see two employees care about the team that we love, is something that is unique.
The Islanders community is small. We are considered “second market” by some. But the two of you are “first market.”
While the organization has decided to go in a different direction, I just wanted the both of you to know that you’ll always have a home here with the Islanders faithful.
Good luck to whatever comes your way!
The Islanders Faithful
