Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2020-21 Schedule Released

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2020-21 schedule was released early Friday afternoon after weeks of planning. The Sound Tigers, not surprisingly, will play 24 games, 12 at Webster Bank Arena, and 12 on the road against two opponents, the Hartford Wolf Pack and the Providence Bruins. The Bruins will be playing their home games at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA. The Wolf Pack will remain to play their home games at the XL Center in Downtown Hartford. No fans will be permitted in all three of the arenas.

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers will do something that they haven’t done since 2002 this season, play games in the month of May. The American Hockey League season will begin on February 5th, and the Sound Tigers will visit Providence in Marlborough. The Sound Tigers 2020-21 schedule includes no back to backs and all games will be played at 1:00 P.M.

Monthly Breakdown

February: Six (three home and three away)

March: Seven (four home and three away)

April: Eight (three home and five away)

May: Two (one home and one away)

Fans in AHL Arenas

Webster Bank Arena on Twitter: "🚨 IT'S #GAMEDAY 🚨 @SHUHockey battles in-state rival @UConnMHOC at 7:05pm tonight! Join us for a great night of college hockey action!… https://t.co/f5HPlEjO1M"

It was also announced that no fans were going to be permitted in Webster Bank Arena, although in an email sent to season ticket holders, it was said that the Sound Tigers are in talks with the state government on plans to possibly re-open the arena but it is looking unlikely for that.

There are other AHL teams who will be allowing fans and some are currently “day by day” with local government, while others moved to their NHL team’s practice facility.

The Iowa Wild, Hershey Bears, Cleveland Monsters, and Texas Stars will have limited attendance at the beginning of the season. By the end of the season, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Grand Rapids Griffins, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and Tucson Roadrunners. The Chicago Wolves, San Jose Barracuda, San Diego Gulls, Binghamton Devils, Providence Bruins, and Ontario Regin are all playing at an alternate site.

The 2020-21 American Hockey League season is going to be one for the books and unlike any other in the 85-year history of the league.
