Islanders Travel To Buffalo To Take on Sabres
Coming off of their massive win against the first-place Boston Bruins, the New York Islanders look to stay hot against the Buffalo Sabres.
The win over Boston can prove to be a big momentum builder for the Islanders. They are still the only team to beat Boston in regulation this season, a feat that they achieved twice.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored a pair of goals for the Islanders in their win on Saturday night. Jordan Eberle and Mathew Barzal also found their way onto the scoresheet, registering one goal each in the 4-2 victory. Leo Komarov had one of his best games of the season, assisting on both of Pageau’s goals
Islanders Storylines
The Pager Train Has Left The Station
Pageau has been playing stellar hockey lately. Scoring three goals in his last two games and two goals in the Islanders’ win on Saturday, he has proven to be an effective source of offense for the Islanders. He is heating up at the right moment; his production could foreshadow a significant jump in offensive production in the future.
Komarov Comes Alive
“Uncle Leo” picked up his first multi-assist game in four years on Saturday. Komarov looks to carry this production into tonight’s clash with the Buffalo Sabres.
Eberle Stays Hot For Islanders
Eberle scored his sixth goal of the season on Saturday. He is currently coleading the Islanders in goals this season with six, and he is off to the best start of his career. Eberle will look to maintain his high-quality impact as the team travels to Buffalo, seeking to continue their winning ways.
Sabres Storylines
The biggest question mark coming into this game is the status of Taylor Hall. Hall received a positive COVID-19 test on February 2, which placed him on the NHL’s COVID-19 protocols list. However, he recently rejoined the team on February 13 and is expected to play tonight.
Sabres captain Jack Eichel will look to continue his elite play as his Sabres take on the Islanders tonight. Eichel leads the team in assists (9) and points (11).
