Sound Tigers Set to Face Off With Providence on Friday

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers’ longest homestand of the season will close on Friday afternoon as the Sound Tigers will host the Providence Bruins from Webster Bank Arena. The Sound Tigers were able to get their first win on Wednesday as they beat the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Last Time Out

The Sound Tigers and Bruins met last Saturday in the Sound Tigers’ home opener when Bridgeport gave up three power play goals and blew a 3-2 lead in the third period. Providence hasn’t played since that game, while the Sound Tigers beat Hartford for their first win on Wednesday afternoon at Harbor Yard.

The Sound Tigers got goals from their veterans on Wednesday and will look for more. Jakub Skarek had arguably his best start since coming to North America, shutting down the potent Wolf Pack offense. The play of defenseman Samuel Bolduc has impressed many, and he looks to be on the right track to the NHL.

The Bruins have not yet announced their starting goaltender. It will either be Dan Vladar or Jeremy Swayman. Swayman started both games against the Sound Tigers and played well both times.

Keys to the Game

a game between the Sound Tigers and Providence Bruins

The Sound Tigers have struggled on the power play in the young season, scoring once on 12 opportunities. In order for the Sound Tigers to be successful on Friday against Providence, they will need to get more from the power play.

In the first period Wednesday, the Sound Tigers took three penalties, but after that, they didn’t take another one. Bridgeport will need to continue to stay out of the box when they play the Bruins. Providence scored three power-play goals on the Sound Tigers last week, and Bridgeport will want to stay at full strength during the game.
