Islanders Look To Extend 7-Game Win Streak Against Devils
After defeating the New Jersey Devils on Thursday 5-3, the New York Islanders host the Devils once again at 7:00 PM EST.
Islanders Storylines:
New First Line?
Although the Islanders defeated the Devils just two days ago, they lost one of their top goal scorers on the first line in Anders Lee. The line of Lee-Barzal-Eberle was one of the best lines in the league, but by the second period, Michael Dal Colle filled Lee’s footsteps. According to Daily Faceoff, Anthony Beauvilier is projected to take Lee’s spot on the top line, with Dal Colle’s replacing Beauvillier on the second line. Lee’s injury has no timetable, so it remains to be seen how this plays out in the long run.
Deep Goaltending:
It looks like Ilya Sorokin has been in the NHL for years. After his shaky debut, Sorokin has looked like the goalie the Islanders were hoping for. Combined with Semyon Varlamov and a top defense, Sorokin and the Islanders look even more dangerous.
Devils Storylines:
The Devils have really struggled against the Islanders, winning one of four games against them. Their offense has not offered much, as they rank 22nd in terms of Goals For per 60 Minutes (GF/60). Also, their defense ranks 17th in terms of Goals Against per 60 Minutes (GA/60). They are still in the rebuilding years, and forward Jack Hughes has really developed which is one of the few positives for the team.
How to Watch?
