Sound Tigers May Change Name To Bridgeport Islanders
After twenty years with one name, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers are most likely changing their name to the Bridgeport Islanders.
This is a developing story. It started on Monday afternoon, when the Sound Tigers posted a “glitched” graphic, and inside those graphics, it had HTML code. It said, “Bridgeport_Islanders.exe attempting to load” and “‘Sound Tigers’ not found,” as well as “We are All Islanders”
In those graphics, it said “Rebooting on 5/10 1:00.” The Sound Tigers kept using Glitch graphics during the games, and had these graphics which teased a name change:
Another thing that was put on the team’s website was this graphic, which shows to be a tease of the team’s logo.
This logo shows a stick that is possibly a teaser of the new Bridgeport Islanders logo that will replace the Sound Tigers. Some eagle-eyed fans had noticed this last night, and the Connecticut Post’s Mike Fornabaio had reached out to the team, where they had no comment.
Then, at 1 p.m. EST Wednesday afternoon, a full five days until the supposed release or “reboot,” the team put out this video.

If you stop it at around two seconds, you can see this.
You can see the stick that was shown in that one graphic earlier, now with a B attached to it, in a roundel, like the Islanders. It says Islanders on the bottom.
For many longtime Sound Tigers fans, this is heartbreaking. For those who have grown up with the team, it sucks to see this change.
Some Sound Tiger fans were really upset. Many of the Sound Tigers season ticket holders are also Ranger fans, which could affect their fandom.

It is a sad day for many hockey fans in Bridgeport as the New York Islanders change an iconic staple of their franchise.
