New York Islanders Splitting Series With Bruins Was Supreme
After sacrificing a hat trick to David Pastrnak in Game 1, the pesky New York Islanders excelled over the Boston Bruins in Game 2. Splitting the series in Boston was crucial for the Islanders.
The Ruckus Bruins’ Crowd
The Boston Bruins were lucky to have near-maximum capacity for round two. It was pretty easy to hear how loud TD Garden was. Islanders fans might think their home is louder, but TD Garden definitely made an impact on the outcome of Game 1.
Game 2 might have been louder in Boston. After the Islanders stunned the Bruins in the second period, Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron ignited the crowd with two goals in the third to tie the game. It got even harder in overtime as the fans were extremely loud but the Islanders dominated the extra frame. After the Bruins gained some momentum in the Islanders’ defensive zone, Casey Cizikas put the Island on his shoulders and shut the crowd up.
It was pretty clear it was extremely tough to win in Boston and it will only get harder. The Islanders are extremely grateful to come out with a split.

The Old Barn Still Has Life
It might be the loudest building in the NHL and the players feed off the energy. The Islanders now have a shot to win two home games with a crazy crowd behind them to put them up 3-1 in the series. If the Islanders lost Game 2 and went down 2-0 in the series, it would be very hard to win at home. For the players, it is very hard to win on the road especially with a sold out building at full capacity.
Islanders’ Success At Home
The Islanders have been phenomenal on home ice this year. Now, the series is dead even and they have a chance to break the series open at the place they are most successful. The Bruins are the better team in this series, but that’s the point of the playoffs. It’s can you perform in the moment and who will surprise you.
The question is, can the Bruins perform well on the Islanders home ice? The New York Islanders went 4-0 against the Boston Bruins this year at Nassau Coliseum. If they can keep that up they will win this series. Now, the Islanders can potentially win two home games and afford a Game 5 loss and still win the series.
We will now wait to see what happens.
