Which NHL Teams Had Best 2022 Offseason?

The 2022 NHL offseason has come to an end. In this article, we are going to take a look at the teams we believe have had the best summers.

Coming off a Stanley Cup, the Colorado Avalanche are the team to beat this season. The Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers,  Carolina Hurricanes and St. Louis Blues are also a few of the squads with serious championship aspirations.

Online bookmakers aim to provide the best odds for NHL teams looking to take their positive offseason into the upcoming season. Whether they will or not is a different matter entirely. The offseason does not necessarily determine what will happen in the upcoming season, but it is a pretty solid indicator.

The Detroit Red Wings are a team to look out for this season, as they spent big money in the summer in hopes of clawing their way out of the bottom of the NHL standings. They are hoping to create a path toward more optimistic pastures.

No team saw a bigger increase in their budget, and they are not a team that should be forgotten about. Not only did they add quality players, but they have also added some value with their additions.

With the signings of Andrew Copp, David Perron, Dominik Kubalik, Ben Chiarot and Olli Maatta, plus the trade for Ville Husso, they are a team who clearly had one of the best summers.

Another team with an excellent offseason was the Seattle Kraken. They could be contenders this season.

Andre Burakovsky and Oliver Bjorkstrand are two key additions to the forward core. Considering the team had difficulty finding the back of the net last season, these two players will plug a huge hole.

Burakovsky was a tremendous player on the Avalanche, and the Kraken will be hopeful that he repeats such blistering form going into this season.

Bjorkstrand was not as consistent as Burakovsky last year. But this does not mean he does not bring anything to the table. With four seasons remaining on a five-year, $27 million contract he signed with the Blue Jackets on Jan. 6, 2021, he will be a huge piece of the Kraken’s future.

The Washington Capitals are another team that makes our list. They had a solid offseason, adding Dylan Strome, Connor Brown and Erik Gustafsson.

They also signed Darcy Kuemper, who many thought was the best goaltender in free agency. He is a substantial improvement over the tandem of Ilya Samsonov and Vitek Vanecek.

All in all, many teams had a good offseason, but the Red Wings, Kraken and Capitals top our list.
