Sound Tigers Look to Rebound Against Providence Bruins
The 1-4 Bridgeport Sound Tigers will look to rebound against the Providence Bruins after a loss on Friday. It will be their second visit of the season to the New England Sports Center for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, as they will play the Bruins for the second time in seven days.
Last Meeting
The Sound Tigers and Bruins met last Friday at Webster Bank Arena for their third meeting of the season. Both teams traded back and forth chances, but the Sound Tigers lost 1-0. A bright spot was that Jakub Skarek played great. However, the power play still struggled. Bridgeport hasn’t scored a power play goal since opening day when Bobo Carpenter beat Providence goalie Jeremy Swayman.
The Bruins were able to break the tie when Zach Senyshyn scored his second goal of the season as he beat Jakub Skarek with under ten minutes to play. Providence played last played on Sunday in Hartford, winning 5-2.
Keys to the Game
For Providence, their goalies will have to stay hot. Dan Vladar and Jeremy Swayman have both been spectacular to start the year, especially the rookie Swayman out of the University of Maine. The Bruins will have to keep up their strong power play work as well.
The Sound Tigers have been getting strong goaltending from Skarek, making it tough to take him out of the net. The Sound Tigers will need the power play to click, and keep the penalty kill working as well. Their penalty kill struggled with before the second meeting with Providence.
