The Bridgeport Islanders opened their third week as they took on the Providence Bruins at Webster Bank Arena. Much like the prior Saturday, it was a slow start for Bridgeport. Providence led 3-2 after the first including goals by Oskar Steen and John Moore. In the second period, former New York Islander Chris Wagner made it 4-2. But the Islanders came to life in the second half of the game. Simon Holmstrom scored his first goal of the season, followed by an Otto Koivula goal to tie it up. Richard Panik scored his first goal as a Bridgeport Islander in the third period, and Bridgeport held on to the lead. Anatolii Golyshev capped it off with an empty netter. Jakub Skarek made 26 saves during the 6-4 victory in front of a franchise-worst announced crowd of 1,149.

Sunday vs. Hartford

On Sunday, the Hartford Wolf Pack came to town for the first time this season. Cory Schnieder got the start for Bridgeport. Hartford scored early as Anthony Greco and Hunter Skinner put the Wolf Pack up 2-0 after the first period. In the second, Hartford scored another goal before Austin Czarnik made it 3-1. Bridgeport couldn’t get much going in the third period before Tanner Fritz scored his first goal as a member of the Hartford Wolf Pack. Tim Gettinger tacked on one more and Hartford won by a score of 5-1. Keith Kinkaid made 42 saves for Hartford.

The Islanders get back in action for a three-in-three against Hartford and Springfield this weekend.
